U.S. Women’s Ice Hockey Gold Medalist and Burlington native honored at State House Press Release

BOSTON – On April 18, Senator Cindy Friedman (D-Arlington) joined Governor Charlie Baker, Lt. Governor Kathryn Polito and Representative Theodore Speliotis (D-Danvers) for a special ceremony to honor two members of the U.S. Women’s Ice Hockey team at the Massachusetts State House. Among the athletes were Kali Flanagan of Burlington and Meghan Duggan of Danvers.

Flanagan helped Team USA win their first gold medal since 1998 in a 3-2 shootout victory over Team Canada in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. She is one of five current or former Boston College players on the U.S. Women’s Ice Hockey Team.

“It was a pleasure to honor Kali for all of her hard work as a first-time Olympic Gold Medalist,” said Senator Friedman. “Her athletic ability and rare raw talent has made the Town of Burlington, the state of Massachusetts and our country so very proud of her and the team for their incredible accomplishment.”
