Sponsored Legislation

S.2059 An Act designating July 8 as Massachusetts Emancipation Day a.k.a Quock Walker Day

This legislation would establish July 8th as a state holiday, Massachusetts Emancipation Day a.k.a. Quock Walker Day, in recognition of July 8, 1783, when the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that the Massachusetts constitution’s declaration of rights rendered slavery unconstitutional. This Day will also commemorate Quock Walker and the significant contributions he made to abolish slavery in the Commonwealth.

S.2060 An Act designating the “Giant Puffball” fungus as the official mushroom of the Commonwealth

This bill would designate the “Giant Puffball” fungus, calvatia gigantea, the official mushroom of the Commonwealth.

S.2061 An Act relative to state contracting

This bill would close a loophole in existing MGL so cleaning and maintenance workers working in quasi-state agencies would have the same right to be paid the prevailing wage as those working in state-owned facilities.
